The new Florida divorce laws in HB 907 are a bit confusing because there are 3 different effective dates. Here's the scoop:
- Alimony changes took effect July 1, 2010
- Starting today (Oct. 1, 2010) if you have multiple children, you must spell out exactly how and when the child support changes as each child "ages out" It now ends at the child's 18th birthday unless you specify otherwise.
- Child support calculation changes will take effect on January 1, 2011
It's unusual to have so many dates in one piece of legislation. I hope this clears up any confusion.

I find it very incredible how often the Florida divorce law tends to change. It is making tougher to keep up with all the changes.
I see these changes are bit outdated as they had recent changes a few weeks ago as well.
This is why sometimes getting a divorce can be difficult if you have not kept up with the updates. Keeping up with the updates is what makes a good lawyer.
